Course Objectives

Describe essential career development theories and apply relevant theories to suitable client cases

Identify different types of assessments, select appropriate assessment for individuals/groups, administer and interpret assessment results

Identify and use career information resources to assist clients with career decision making

Identify crucial factors of job search process and list strategies that prepare clients for employment readiness

Apply helping skills to work with clients effectively

Design and deliver career trainings and/or workshops

Apply ethical decision-making strategies to specific case examples

Recognize their own attitudes toward diverse populations and describe the characteristics that a culturally-competent person uses in working with multicultural populations

Design career service programs for populations of their choice

Describe methods for assessing business needs and designing relevant services to address needs of both job seekers and business

Prepare for credentialing exam – Certified Career Services Provider (CCSP)

 Target Participants

Those who have completed either a. the Career Practitioners Course (CVGD&TVHN/offline), or b. the combination of the Career Educators Course (CVGDHN/online) and the Career Consultants Course (CVTVHN/online), with a keen interest in specializing in the field of career education and consulting, and aspiring to obtain credentialing in the career development field.

 Target students

Alumni who have completed the CVHN or CVGDHN + CVTVHN courses, with a keen interest in specializing in the field of education and career counseling, and aspiring to obtain a professional certification.

Entrance Requirements

  • Proficiency in reading and writing English, at least IELTS 6.5 (can be expired) or equivalent.* (*If not already obtained, an entrance test will be required).
  • Ability to learn independently. Dedicate at least 12 hours to self-study by reading English materials before class and completing homework assignments.
  • Capable of using/learning to use software like Zoom, Canvas, and Google Drive.
  • Commitment to attend all classes. Missing is allowed only for a maximum of 2 virtual instructor-led sessions and 3 virtual peer learning sessions (missing the first session is not allowed).
  • Must have an open attitude, eagerness to learn, and willingness to share with the class.
